Full Title: Catalogue No. 101. F. H. Hopkins & Co. Montreal Canada Tools and Machinery for all Forms of Construction Work "Steam Shovels, Concrete Mixers, Rock Crushers, Dump Cars, Track Supplies, Derricks, Hoisting Engines, Iron and Steel, Rock Drills, Locomotives, Buckets Etc. Railway Contractors' and Mining Supplies." No date, but probably circa 1900 or earlier. 7 x 9". Covers are flexible cloth. 688 pages. See picture of book above. This is a scarce catalog with fascinating descriptions of all sorts of heavy railway and other machinery. Contents include: Hoisting Machinery and Engines. 27 pages. First picture below shows 2 typical pages. Derricks and fittings Buckets (for digging with cranes and for concrete, coal etc.) Cranes 17 pages. Mostly RR cranes. (See 2nd picture below) Pile drivers and hammers Boilers and Steam Engines 30 pp. Gasoline engines and air compressors 6 pp. 3rd picture below shows 2 typical pages. Steam and other pumps 20pp. Little Giant Rock Drill Marion Steam Shovels and Dredges. 47 pages. This is very nice section that goes into much detail on the construction of the steam shovels and the various models and their specifications. Davenport Locomotives 7 pp. Also mine locomotives. See 4th picture below. Ore and Dump RR cars. 47pp. Wheel Barrows 34 pp. (Yes, really that number of wheel barrows) Plows and scrapers (mostly for road work) 22 pp. Steam rollers, traction engines & various other road machinery Crushing machinery Ransome Concrete mixers and appliances (e.g., carts) 25 pp. RR Track tools including 15 pages of jacks. Forges and Blowers 7 pp. Hand tools, nuts and bolts, hand trucks, express wagons etc. etc. etc. CONDITION: Outer hinges were badly worn and have been reinforced with heavy brown repair tape. Covers show edge wear and slight fraying. Covers a little rubbed. Front cover shows slight bend markings near right edge. Interior pages show slight age darkening.
