However, because of the size of the effluent tanks and the turnaround time for the dioxin analysis, it will operate at 50 gpm most of the time. Therefore, the system is equipped with matching 50 gpm pump, where needed. When plant flow is 100 gpm, both pumps will be operated. When flow is 50 gpm, only one pump will be operated.   The wastewater is not corrosive, volatile or reactive and no special precautions have been built into the design, except, the foundation will be curved to prevent migration of wastewater to the environment.   All equipment will be exposed to the environment and will be waterproofed. The oil/water separator, inclined plate clarifier, clear well and mixing tanks will be open at the top for access to the unit’s internals. The influent tanks and effluent tanks will also be open at the top. All other vessels are pressure vessels and are covered.   Piping upstream of the oil/water separator will be schedule 40 carbon steel pipe. Downstream of the oil/water separator, pipe will be schedule 80 PVC pipe.   The wastewater treatment system will be design for automated PLC operation. It will be equipped with safety overfill controls to prevent spills.   Equipment will be assembled and delivered to the site on skids.
