Description
Business I am selling the assets of my transformer service business which ceased operation in 2007. My main business was assembly and oil filling of large power transformers for manufacturers, utilities, generating plants, etc. Any contacts which I have will be included with the purchase. Degasification (Hi-Vac) Rig DetailsThe rig I've been using for the past several years is self contained and mounted on a 32 ft. Great Dane trailer with two side doors and rear swing out doors. All tires on the trailer are new virgin rubber (not recaps) within the past couple of years and have approximately 5000 miles on them.I've been pulling it with a 1995 Freightliner which is in good condition. It's powered by a Detroit 60 series diesel and a 10 speed transmission. The eight drive tires are all relatively new virgin (not recaps) tires and the steering tires are in good condition and have about 50% tread remaining. The tractor has a 220 inch wheelbase and contains a sleeper. I've put four new batteries in it during the past 6-8 months. I'd prefer selling the tractor and trailer together as one item, but it's not absolutely necessary. As stated earlier, the rig is fully self contained, skid mounted and operates via an on board 50KW, 480v, 3 phase diesel generator located in the front of the trailer. There is a three phase double throw switch which enables operation from an outside three phase power source when it is available. Total full load current when everything is running is 23-25 amps. The low operating current often allows easy connection to three phase supplies in power plants, industrial plants, etc. The heater is diesel fired and is probably the best feature of the rig since being diesel fired allows for a much smaller generator, The heating capacity is an excellent 800,000 BTU which is equivalent to 234 KW electric heaters. The design flow rate is 30 gpm and the actual flow rate is 27.5 gpm. There are two vacuum pumps on board, one is a Stokes 150 cfm/450cfm pump/blower package and is used for vacuum on the transformer. The other is a 194cfm Leybold air cooled vacuum pump which is used for vacuum on the degassing chamber only. All pumps and the heater were gone over completely in 2002 when the unit was moved from a straight truck to the tractor and trailer setup as it is currently. There is extensive shelving and tool storage in the trailer as I used it for transformer dress out as well as oil processing. There is also a Hipotronics oil test set which has both the D877 and D1816 test cups. Also, all of the hoses are included with the rig as well as the vacuum tree and miscellaneous hose and pipe fittings. The unit has processed only new oil for the past two years and has produced excellent oil test results for moisture, dielectric, and DGA. It is a manually operated unit (no computer or Programmable controller) which makes it very simple to operate. There is also an on board oil storage tank which holds about 50-75 gallons and is great for heating up the rig and getting it running smoothly before starting the fill, as well as when switching tankers during oil filling. It also makes it nice for maintenance operation of the unit. I ran the unit in November 2007 circulating oil to and from this tank through the heater and degassing chamber and everything worked fine. Of course I will demonstrate proper operation of the rig prior to delivery. I wouldn't hesitate to take this unit to a job tomorrow and perform a vacuum fill. The last major fill I performed was on a 250 MVA, 345 KV transformer containing 21000 gallons and it performed perfectly, achieving a transformer vacuum level of 300 microns (0.3mm) and excellent oil test results.
