Active probes do not load the device under test and so are the most accurate way of observing electrical phenomena. If you are wanting to look at delicate effects use this kind of probe. These were the ultimate probe from Tektronix. Specifications DC - 900 Mhz (often usable to 1 Ghz) risetime < .39 ns attenuation 1X, 10X, 100X input impedance 100k ohms, with 3 pF output - may be used at 50 ohms, or any 1 M ohm input scope - since it is active it is not sensitive to the specific scope input impedance dynamic range - +/- .6 V at 1X, and 10 times more at 10X, etc. max. input +/- 100 V at 1X power supply (not included) +/- 15 VDC at 3.2 Watt Note this requires a modest external power supply. I bought this unit from Tektronix myself brand new. It was powered up once, and then never used. Stored in climate controlled cabinet. All original parts are present as you can see from the picture.
