Ink-key apertures, ink/water fountain foller speeds, plate cylinder radial/lateral positioning, plate cylinder cocking, and other functions can be regulated from the free-standing unit. Up to 1000 settings can be saved to an internal IC, or up to 20 jobs can be saved to an optional floppy disk drive; in repeat runs, the information can be used to save time in setup. The operation console is compatible with the CIP-3 specifications. The unit shown is the standard console, our press is complete with the UPGRADED consule with TRUE LIGHT SYSTEM.   POD Control Panel The touch-screen control panel (POD) gives operators a sophisticated level of control. The large-sized POD makes it possible to numerically adjust plate cylinder radial/lateral position, inking and dampening roller speeds, and other operational settings -- all from the delivery side. Should a malfunction occur, data is immediately displayed and countermeasures are suggested on the screen. Safety and throughput are therefore high.   Shinohara CIP-3 Station --> It is possible to determine the optimum ink-key aperture settings for a job using only its PPF files. Installing the Shinohara CIP-3 station software on a Windows NT-based PC or server allows those settings to be calculated and passed to the operation console, further streamlining operations. CIP-3 is an organization promoting the use of PPF, the Print Production Format. As text and image processing, and the entire prepress industry -- becomes more and more digital based, CIP-3 is transforming the world of print media.   Advanced Perfecting Unit International perfecting patents -- covering such innovations as the master/subgripper system that ensures trouble-free sheet transfer -- allow Shinohara to achieve a level of perfecting quality that other companies cannot match. For added precision, the 52 Multicolor series uses an extra-rigit double-diameter transfer cylinder and single-diameter turnover drum, both monocast in the Shinohara foundry. An optimal semi-automatic perfecting changeover system reduces perfecting setup time to less than one minute.   Semi-Automatic Plate Changer (SPC) With the (optional) Shinohara semi-automatic plate changer (SPC) any operator can complete plate changeover in less than one minute per unit. The operator simply inserts a plate into the leading-edge clamp on the plate cylinder, and then presses a button. With the SPC a 90 degree bender is not required, so efficiency is high. The operation is guided through the POD control screen.   Plate Cylinder Cocking Very fine adjustments can be made to plate cylinder cocking in just a few seconds per cylinder. Remote-controlled tuning can be performed either from the POD control screen or from the operation console. Manual cocking adjustment can also be made from an optional operator-side calibrated dial. In either case, cocking can be set anywhere within +/- .01 mm of the center position. (The picture shows an optional cocking calibrated dial attached on the operation-side side cover on each printing unit.)   Blanket and Ink-Roller Auto Wash-Up Automatic solenoid-driven blanket and ink-roller wash-up systems are optionally available to simplify cleaning operations in the 52 Multicolor series. Blank and ink-roller cleaning can therefore be completed at the touch of a button, in under one minute.   Feeder System Shinohara's center-separation stream feeder offers high reliability and tremendous adaptability. A preloading feeder pile and optional integrated brush/wheel adjustment contribute to the high rate of throughput in the 52 Multicolor series. Feeder timing can be microadjusted, even during operation, by simply turning a hand wheel, so operators can instantly adapt to changes in paper quality, size, and thickness.
