Description
Original 1940s Vintage Hair Style Art by “Robert of Paris” A vintage set of eight (8) interesting vintage drawings and mixed media paintings depicting 1940s hair styles by “Robert of Paris, ” the designer for an emminent 1940s Washington, DC hair salon. Most are prominently identified, and most are also signed (photos). A great gift for a hair stylist or salon operator, or a retro design element for an upscale beauty shop. Very good quality, generally artistically first-rate. This is a No-Reserve Auction. Medium: various media; ink and wash, watercolor and pencil Size: various; two are 9 in. x 11 in. ; three are apprximately 9 ½ in. x 12 ½ in.; two are 10 in. x 12 ¾ in mounted on larger cardboard (photos). Condition: Very Good to Excellent; some toning on some, two of the best of the eight are mounted on cardboard, and the cardboard edges of those two pieces are clipped (photos) Signature: Most are signed (photos), three are not. Two have damaged corners well away from the images, and two have old discolored transparent tape at the edges, away from the images. Background ( or Provenance, if available): found at an Arlington, Virginia, sale. Frame: All are unframed; all will be shipped in a single package Second Chance Offers New eBay procedures prevent fraudulent “Second Chance” Offers. Now on higher priced items your bidder’s ID can only be seen by the seller of the item. But if you want to make absolutely sure that any second chance offer I may send you is legitimate, you can look under your own “My eBay” where my offer would appear under your “My Messages” and also under “All Buying” which is in a column on the left side of that area. I do occasionally make second chance offers. If you didn’t bid on my item to begin with, it is impossible for you to get a legitimate second chance offer. Important: I never eMail bidders with a private offer to sell during an auction. The latest scam involves bidders receiving “offers” from the seller while the bidding is going on. Ignore all such offers. Shipping: The automatically calculated shipping amount includes packing, and USPS Priority shipping and insurance. These drawings and watercolors are being sold Worldwide. Packages in excess of 104 inches length and girth combined are shipped using UPS, usually UPS “3-day select.” I make every effort to ship within one business day of getting payment, as the feedback I’ve received attests. Our experience is that United Kingdom buyers’ packages are considerably delayed by UK Customs. Bid with Confidence: If you are not satisfied with this item, let me know within 48 hours of USPS delivery to you (as determined by tracking information), and return it to me within 7 days of delivery, and I will gladly refund your bid amount, including all initial shipping charges (not your return postage). The 48 hour notification mentioned here is for your benefit, and is a “must.” Returned items must be unused, unaltered, undamaged, and not re-offered for sale, in identical condition/completeness as purchased. Loss of any labels, parts, literature, etc. or alterations including any varnishing, removal of varnish, cleaning or polishing voids return and refund privilege. Our items are typically found at estate sales, auctions, flea markets, thrift shops, and yard sales. Most auction houses - and even thrift shops, for that matter - will not disclose the identity of their consignors, and for that reason we are usually unable to establish a chain of ownership, or provenance. Similarly, while we sometimes may be able to identify estate decedents, we cannot speak for the expertise of the previous owner. As such, unless otherwise stated, the items we sell are not “vetted,” and are unauthenticated. Unless we specify that an item is “painted by,” or “signed by,” we sell the item as-is, and without warranty of any kind. When we do make an explicit authenticity warranty, without exception, any changes, alterations, losses, cleaning, polishing, varnishing, varnish removal voids that warranty, which is good for 30 days from purchase. The return must be accompanied by a dated signed written statement from the recognized expert on the artist, on his or her letterhead containing contact information, stating that the painting is not by the artist as explicitly represented. For the purposes of this guarantee, the “expert” is the person recognized by one of the premier international auction houses as the expert on the artist, or ha s authored a published Catalogue Raisonné for the artist. Appraisers and authenticators are not one and the same; for the purposes of the 30 day authenticity guarantee, opinions of appraisers are not considered expert opinions on paintings’ authenticity. When we accept a valid claim, we will refund the original bid amount, but no postage amounts. Payment: I prefer online payments via PayPal. I also take Money Orders, and Cashier’s Checks. Because of an unfortunate increase in fraudulent instruments, in the case of large denomination Cashier’s Checks and Money Orders, items are shipped after a quick bank confirmation. I cannot mail to unconfirmed addresses given to PayPal: that makes me liable to chargebacks: An unconfirmed address is one potential indication of the addressee and credit card or bank account owner not being one and the same. Canadian and worldwide buyers: when not paying with PayPal, please remit in U.S. Dollars with International Money Order. International money orders that are negotiable in the U. S. will always have a reference to a United States bank in print on the money order. Our Feedback: We have the greatest customers in the world. They love art, communicate with us, and pay remarkably fast. As soon as I get your payment I enter your positive feedback. Then I knock myself out shipping your item via priority mail. So thanks for entering the positive feedback that good art, great packing, fast mailing, quick and open communication, and top customer service warrants! Make us a Favorite:24% of our feedbacks are from repeat customers. We specialize in finding early 20th Century paintings in these categories: abstract art, abstraction, modernism, art moderne, impressionism, impressionist, art deco, cubist or cubism, or modern art. If you join our satisfied customers, consider adding us to your Favorite Sellers. Thank You. Please Note:As a gesture of fairness to all bidders we do not reveal the reserve when we have one. Please do not write with this request. Additionally, we do not end auctions early for the purpose of selling privately. If you write with either of these requests we may not be able to return your message. Please do not request that I understate your bid amount or item value on invoices or customs forms. We are happy to answer any other questions about an auction. If payment is not received within 10 days of end of auction, unless buyer and I have made other arrangements, sale will be automatically revoked and/or item will be relisted. I take pride in describing items accurately. Satisfaction is guaranteed as stated above (see “Bid with Confidence”) because I cannot always be sure of the age, origin, maker/artist, and sometimes not even materials of an item. Otherwise, if I have firsthand knowledge about an item, or anecdotal or documentary material, I will always include it. I am eMailed from time to the time with the question “Do you guarantee this items authenticity?” When the eBay ad does not explicitly guarantee authenticity, authenticity is not guaranteed, and will not be guaranteed after the sale or privately during the sale, so you must read the ad! I like hearing from you and I want to resolve any questions you might have before you bid. I reserve the right to remove and block bids and bidders with low feedback or no feedback who fail to adequately identify themselves on request.
