Description
Samarium Cobalt (SmCo2): Manufacturer/Seller: Storch Magnetics, Livonia, MI, USA http://www.storchmagnetics.com/ 400 pc Samarium Cobalt (SmCo2) 1" X 1/2" X 0.125" block 0.125"= thickness VERY STRONG MAGNETS and FRAGILE. Pull strength approx 7lbs per magnet. check: http://www.storchmagnetics.com/mag2_1.htm I am selling these cheaper than Storch (and/or best offer), where I bought them from. They are brand new and were purchased for $540 U.S. currency. Applications of Samarium Cobalt Magnets Computer disc drives Sensors Traveling wave tubes Linear actuators Satellite systems Motors where temporary stability is vital Attributes of Samarium Cobalt Material High resistance to demagnetization High energy (magnetic strength is strong for its size) Good temperature stability Expensive material (cobalt is market price sensitive) Magnetic strength: Samarium magnets are the most powerful magnets after neodymium types. Grades available: Common grades are 18, and 26 – though Samarium magnets are available in grades up to 33. Physical strength: Hard and extremely brittle – can chip or break if dropped or if they snap together. How they behave with temperature: Samarium magnets are very temperature stable – their properties stay within a narrow range up to about 300° C (570° F). Magnet surface: Samarium magnets do not need to be protected for surface rust. Relative cost: Samarium magnets are relatively costly as compared to other materials. They are used primarily where high strength is required in a high temperature operating environment. Care tips: Because Samarium magnets are extremely brittle, take special care in handling them. Assembly tips: Samarium magnets are often assembled into products using “superglues” such as Loctite 325. Avoid placing mechanical stress on this material. Always ensure that bonding surfaces are clean and dry prior to bonding.
