Description
You are bidding on a near-perfect condition vintage 1961 magazine b&w advertisement from MARION POWER SHOVEL COMPANY featuring their BARGE-MOUNTED MARION 183-M CLAMSHELL DIGGING AN ACCESS CANAL IN LOUISIANA. This ad was carefully removed from a 1961 issue of a popular construction industry magazine. Page size is approximately 8” wide x 11” high, and is ideal for framing. DESCRIPTION: ”THIS IS MARION QUALITY ... and the story of a Do-It-Yourself River.” In southern Louisiana, a canal needed to be dug to release the vast oil and gas resources waiting to be tapped ... solution - dig a 39’ wide by 8’ deep canal. Nicely illustrated with a b&w photo of the MARION 183-M Barge-Mounted Clamshell with a 15-CY bucket and 130- of boom, at work digging this canal at an average of 800’ per day, and up to 2000’ in better going. CONDITION: This outstanding MARION magazine advertisement is in near-perfect condition. Printed on excellent quality low gloss paper, better than many magazines of this era. The only imperfection that I see, is that the paper has yellowed from 47 years of age ... otherwise this ad would be close to ‘perfect’ ... almost as good as the day it was printed. Excellent photo, extremely clean, no tears or marks, excellent edges, no mildew or water damage, and has been in excellent dry storage for many years. ”SAMPLE” will not appear on the actual ad, it is only on the scanned image. SHIPPING & HANDLING: Winning bidder to pay $3.00 S&H via USPS FIRST-CLASS MAIL PACKAGE rate (non-machinable). I USUALLY MAIL ONLY ON TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS, unless you have a special request. Your item will be mailed FLAT, carefully packed in a double envelope with a cardboard stiffener in the inner envelope ... the cardboard stiffener makes it non-machinable but assures you it will arrive in excellent condition. Optional postal insurance is $1.70, available in the U.S. only. I am happy to mail WORLD WIDE. Outside the U.S. will be at FIRST CLASS MAIL INTERNATIONAL rate plus $1.50 packing cost. I will be glad to combine with other auction wins to keep your mailing cost at a minimum ... 2 or 3 items can usually be mailed for the cost of one! PAYMENT: Payment should be received within 10 days after close of auction. I accept cashiers checks and money orders, but PREFER PAYMENT THROUGH PayPal. NO PERSONAL CHECKS without prior approval, please. Careful packaging always, and prompt shipping. IF MAILING YOUR PAYMENT, PLEASE MAIL TO: THOMAS PEIRCE, 705 FALCON DRIVE, TAVARES, FL 32778-4530, and please communicate with me and let me know by email of your intentions. Thank you.
