Description
Low cost, light weight, portable, cocoon like cylinders sized to accommodate a human being while lying down, can be disguised or hidden within or under various types of household furniture. The cocoon can be made of titanium or an aluminum ring, for reduced weight and increased strength. rubber gaskets or seals at the ends create a smoke proof seal that can also lock out water and dust. An end cap of tightly meshed steel is added to protect the occupant from flying debris or dangerous projectiles. When assembled, the cocoon can be used to protect the residents or occupants of a dwelling from the effects of an earthquake or natural disaster, such as falling debris or building collapse, until rescue personal can locate the idividual and bring them to safety. The cocoon(s) can be disguised as household furniture such as a coffee table, a standard bunk bed (image shown) or chest of drawers.
