I have seen this called by several names (job backer, finishing presss) but, my pictures are worth a thousand words. Call it what you will, it is an extremely handy bookbindery tool for book back rounding, gluing, nipping threads or cords on old books. The base measures 12" wide X 12" deep (front to back)  X  7.25" tall overall. Inside measures 10.5" wide and opens to 5.25" to accomodate the majority of books. The vise blocks are 2.5" X 2.5" X 15" wide. The steel screws are .75" threaded rods with free spinning round phenolic handles (operating smoothly). A book can be inserted with 12" It is in 'LIKE NEW' condition made of solid furniture grade oak. I made it to suit my needs when I rebound my books as a hobby.
