Description
Molds For Sale:The original molds for the car pictured are for sale. Not the car, not the bodies; just the molds as shown in the mold picture. START AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE BUSINESSfast and inexpensively: Electric cars are a hot topic right now, and there is virtually nothing out there today that you can buy (except putz-mobiles). The body is the time-consuming, laborious, and expensive part of a building a car. These molds for this or a similar design, could take one to two years, and cost from $350,000. (if done by a sweat shop), up to $1,000,000.+ (if done professionally). At $149k these molds are a real bargain for the right person / business. The rest of the vehicle, like the frame and drivetrain, could be done quickly with simple and inexpensive designs, and off-the-shelf components. search for "EV plans" on Ebay. This car could be in production faster and cheaper than Tesla or others get their front bumpers approved by the government, with a projected retail of between $15,000 and $25,000 depending on quantity, performance expectations, and creature comforts.Being a 3-wheeler, it is classified as a motorcycle by Federal Regulations, and would have to meet less than 5% of the safety requirements of a 4-wheeler. Also consider that the vehicle could be sold as a kit. THE ELECTRIC CAR:The Doran EV is one of the most famous electric cars which won many races and electric vehicle range contests and rallys in the 1990s. It still looks as modern today as in did ten years ago. This car was owned by the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles (a LA County Museum) for several years until 2004. It was acquired by the Petersen to recognize its beauty and technology. THE GAS POWERED CAR:was powered by a Subaru flat-4 cylinder engine but could use other power plants. It was fast, handled very well, and was still very economical and efficient with its aerodynamic shape, low weight, and low rolling resistance. ABOUT THE MOLDS:The molds were built with the highest quality materials and workmanship. They were taken from the first produced car which was refinished just beforehand to have the highest quality molds and subsequent end-product possible. There is basically two big pieces to the car: The main body (cockpit); and the hood which rotates towards the front of the vehicle: The main body has 4 mold pieces that bolt together: this includes the top of the car that also encircles the windshield (from a Pontiac Fiero), the two sides, and the rear. There is not a mold for the firewall or floor of the car, as we had planned to use a new design in the future. Using a moldless construction technique, the firewall and floor molds can easily be built to fit your design. These molds would be very easy and fast to build as these are not appearance items requiring a beautiful design that people would see, or have the super class A automotive quality finish typical of external body panels. The hood also has four molds that bolt together to make the entire hood in one piece (like the body). If you look at the picture of the mold pieces in storage, you will see a large piece that is red in color. That is a spare hood that is sitting in the main (largest) piece of the mold for the hood. More pictures and information about the car can be seen at: http://www.gorillavehicles.com/GorillaMisc4Sale.htm ___________ Sales of Bodies: Sorry, we cannot sell just one body, please don't ask. We have people ask us all the time. We're no longer in the fiberglass/composites business and no longer have personnel experienced in same. This could be a BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY: The vehicle could be sold as a kit, or plans plus the bodies. Depending on where you are located, there are probably several fiberglass businesses within a relatively short distance that could make bodies from the molds, quickly and inexpensively. These fiberglass part manufacturers may include kit car manufacturers, custom body parts manufacturers, boat manufacturers, and even hot tub and shower manufacturers.Lots of production manufacturers in Southern California use companies just south of the border to do good quality work at very reasonable prices. Support: If you buy the molds, we will offer guidance/advice to the new owner or fiberglass manufacturer. Also, on a consulting basis (separate from this auction), we can offer vehicle design / engineering services. You are welcome to come and inspect the molds before purchase. Contact us for an appointment. Will consider financing with 50% down. Questions welcomed ! .Thanks for looking.
