The plant, constructed out of both new and refurbished equipment, was designed to receive raw milk. The milk can be standardised, pasteurised and bottled for subsequent resale. The plant has two pasteurising lines, one that runs at around 5,000 litres per hour and another that runs around 2,500 litres per hour. When operating the plant was processing in excess of 100,000 litres in a 24 hour period. Processed milk is bottled down two lines which are capable of handling bottles ranging in size from 300 ml up to 3 litre. The plant features include automated in-line standardisation with extensive automated control systems. The plant was 'mothballed' in August 2007 subsequent upon the sale of bottling contracts to a third party. Plant operational integrity has been maintained by way of a regular water testing cycle. The original investment was in excess of NZ$4 million. The plant is available at a substantial discount. The building that houses the plant is also available for lease.
