Description
I have our 1968 model John Deere 55 combine up for sale.  This machine was purchased in I believe 1984 by my father from the original owner who farmed north of Dallas.  This machine harvested all our wheat and milo for many years before we purchased a turbo 7700 combine which then took over the harvesting duties.  This machine was retired around 8 years ago and had not been cranked since that time until a couple of weeks ago when I decided to get it running again to see if someone would want to purchase it.  We have always kept the machine inside but it does have a lot of patch work on the normal areas of wear and tear on a machine of this age.       The engine is the gasoline powered 303 CID, 6 cyliner which was the big engine for this combine.  It cranks and runs fine, but does have a burned exhaust valve.  The front rasp bar shaft is broken and needs to be replaced.  This requires pulling the feeder house off which we did when we purchased the machine back in 84.  That tach worked when we purchased it, but the cable broke with 1900+ hours.   It hasn’t worked since the late 80’s.  My father never replaced the cable.  I would estimate that the machine probably has around 2500 hours or so.  The engine did not use any oil when retired, but I did notice the front seal leaking from being dried out from sitting so long.  All the gauges worked when parked, but now read high so I imagine that there is a ground or sending unit problem.  The transmission shifts fine and the clutch releases at the top of travel.  The left brake works and the right brake does not.  The air conditioner worked fine at one time, but when R-12 got so expensive, we never converted to R-134.  The compressor is free but I have no idea on the condition.  The evaporator/fan unit in the cab is still in good condition.  The seat shown in the cab was new in the late 90’s and is still in good condition.    Basically we were hoping someone could use this machine to fix and harvest small acreage like we have or restore it to take to shows.  If you have any questions please feel free to shoot me a message through e-bay and I will try to answer it.  Also if you happen to need any other pictures of different areas, I will try to take those for you as well.   I hope someone out there can use this machine as we just hate to see it junked out.  I know a lot of people are restoring combines today so maybe this could be a nice addition for you. $1500.00 buys this combine for someone to have room to fix it up!! Don't pass this up if you have been looking for this type machine!  We have the manual and an extra drive wheel as well.    PAYMENT, TERMS & CONDITIONS   Please remember this is a used machine.  It is in fair condition and is not being presented as excellent.   Item is being sold AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTY!  Bidder should resolve all questions and financial obligations with their financial institution and/or significant other BEFORE placing a bid.  Your bid is a binding contract to purchase this combine.  If you don't have the funds, DO NOT BID.  I will turn in dead beat bidders to eBay!! I take pride in my 100% positive feedback and want to keep it that way!   A $500.00 non refundable deposit is due within 3 days of the auction end with the remaining balance due within 7 days unless prior arrangements have been made.  I reserve the right to end the auction early as this auto is for sale in other areas.   If you have any questions feel free to send me a message through e-bay and I will respond.  I DO NOT respond to personal e-mails from this auction. Thank you for viewing my auction and GOOD LUCK! www.tri-power-performance.com
