The aim of this book is to teach the principles involved in roof framing. The theory being, that if the principles are known, the use of the rafter tables can be quickly learned. Each chapter in the book represents a typical roof while each section of each chapter represents a rafter. This way, one can study either the complete roof or simply a rafter...whichever is desired. The book contains charts and 115 different 'figures' or black and white drawings. There are 6 chapters. Roofs covered are the Gable Roof; The Hip Roof; The Intersecting Roof; and The Unequal Pitch Intersecting Roof. Please see the pics below. This vintage roofing book is titled "Simplified Roof Framing". J. Douglas Wilson and S.O Werner are the authors of the book. The book is from the "McGraw-Hill Vocational Texts" series. The title page does state "First Edition" right on it. McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., New York and London, published the book in 1927. The book is copyrighted 1927 by McGraw-Hill.This hardcover book is nicely intact and quite clean. The dark green and black cover of the book shows light to moderate rubbing along the edges and high points of the spine. The gilt lettering on the spine is intact and quite bright. The inside hinges are nicely intact, and sturdy, with some light browning visible due to age. The front inside endpage does have a previous owner's name and date (May.18. 1927) in the upper corner. The text pages of the book are all firmly attached, clean, and very readable.This very clean old book physically measures just a bit more than 5.75" by 8.25" and contains122 numbered pages.
